Rainy Day Fun!

We have been very lucky to have only a little rain at recess and lunch, so we can still go outside.  After all, we are WEST COAST KIDS, so we don’t melt like sugar candy in the rain!  One day it was REALLY pouring, so we stayed inside.  Hey!  It’s actually fun to have recess INSIDE too! (Did you know that 25 out of the last 28 days it has been raining?)

Here are a few photos of our inside activities that day!

Hmmm… did you notice that some of us are actually busy building MATH PATTERNS for FUN!

What do YOU like to do inside on a Rainy Day?

Our first class photo!

We finally got all the class present on a day when Mrs. Boekhout remembered to take the photo!  Lucky us… Miss Dittrick happened to come by at just the right time.   Miss Dittrick took Mrs. Boekhout in the photo and Mrs. Boekhout took Miss Dittrick in the next photo… BUT… we added a little “Wacky Wednesday Twist” to Photo # 2!!!

When Mrs. Boekhout came across this book at the bookstore, she simply couldn’t resist buying it for Miss Dittrick!

So the class did a “special pose” with Miss Dittrick!

October Arrives!

Show Me Ten for Good Listening!

Show Me Ten for Good Listening!

It is hard to believe that we are now passing our 16th day of school!  So much has happened in these first weeks, and we have had many different kinds of “first Gr. 2 lessons“!  As well, all our Class Pets have now arrived and we have seen our first Chickadees and Hummingbirds come to our window bird feeders. We went into the “Sanctuary” courtyard  and fed the big Koi fish.  Our “Special Helper of the Day” is in full swing and we have organized our “Table Helpers“. Our first Spelling Tests and Homework assignments were a big success.  Our first Good Stuff Assembly had a super Slide Show by Mme. Proulx, our new principal, and we enjoyed a whole-school performance by Andy the Musical Scientist. (Click on the link to see Andy in action.)  We gave our best effort at the Terry Fox Run and had almost all our parents attend Open House.  We have had Library, Music, and Computer times.  Whew!  That’s a lot of “firsts” and it’s only some of the things we have done!

Here are some photos of one of our favorite times in the day…
“Shared Reading”.

We hope you enjoy reading our  Blog and “peeking into” Classroom 2!  You are welcome to add your own comments too!

What was YOUR favorite activity in these first days?

Rainy Days are here!

Here we go… after a bit of a rough start, the new school year is finally starting to settle down to regular routines. The bright, sunny days of early October have dissolved into the soggy, doggy days of true Autumn, but when Mr. DV announces, “It’s an Inside Day today” on the PA system, we think of “Pete the Cat” !

Do we cry?

            “Goodness, no!”

We just take out our snacks
and we sing this song:

“We love our classroom,
it’s fun for me and you!
Let’s play together,
there’s lots of stuff to do!”

Yeah!

It’s an Inside Day!

Bonus!  You can listen to “Pete the Cat” online!

Eric Litwin reads his book “Pete the Cat” on YouTube.

Photo News has begun!

We finally have started the write-ups for our Weekly News Reporters!  Ten students have now had a turn with the classroom camera, doing a ‘photo shoot’ as we go about our morning routines.  The class gets to see all the photos but the News Reporter picks just 3 favourite photos for their “News Report”.

You can view them on our “Photo News” page.

Enjoy!
