Firefighters’ Pancake Breakfast

We were SO EXCITED today, because it was the FIREFIGHTERS’ PANCAKE BREAKFAST! We piled out the back door when we saw the firetruck backing into the parking lot and we waved and cheered for them. Then came the loooonnnng wait… actually, it wasn’t too long at all before Mr. Della Vedova said it was the Grade 2s turn to line up! We got to climb right into the firetruck and get our photo in front of it too. We brought money to put in the Firefighters’ boots. What a fun way to do a fund-raiser for a good cause! There were SO many firefighters cooking up pancakes! This year they added a new recipe… chocolate chip pancakes! Yum! Parents were waiting for us inside with maple syrup and drinks. Then the WHOLE SCHOOL gathered in the gym to eat pancakes and Christmas oranges and sing carols. Mr. D-V had an ELF SUIT! (and he wore his “Elf Ears” all day long too!) At the end, in came SANTA! It was so exciting for everyone! After recess, Santa and his “Mr. D-V Elf” came around to all the classrooms so that we could get a class photo. At the end of the day, everyone got a DELICIOUS cookie to enjoy! It was a DELICIOUS DAY for everyone!
